Soul Mates - Poem by Aminath Neena

Remember the night
Before the harvest,
When the spirit of love lowered
Its buckets to collect

The shine less
Blue Sapphires and blood red rubies
From twisted wobbly hearts
And fathomless

Murky depths
To replace
The shingles
With glittering diamonds

Bathed in ambrosia
The night
When the moon craned

Its neck for a glimpse
Down below
In miracle land

And as the wind chimes danced
In rhythm with the rose bud’s song
And pink petals melted

In ecstasy,
That night

Were born
And they, named us
“Soul mates”
