Soulless - Poem by melanie s. jones

Every night I’m lost
Looking for it
Searching the earth
I climb mountains and rocks
Swim cold angry oceans
Black waves that drown me but I can’t give up
I need it back
Give me my soul back

Every morning I wake up tired and confused
forgotten all about what I’ve done
Even then I know
I know there’s something missing
I take my keys and check my bag
But I know
I left something behind

All day I‘ll go through the motions again
I‘ll eat and drink and talk and work
Yet I‘ll feel nothing but this void
just a hole in my chest

Awesome..... puts me in mind of when life has challenged me to the depths of my soul. Another great poet that you remind me of is Mindy Nettifee...... (Report) Reply
