Summer Kids - Poem by Cast, Anonymous
Criss-crossed sitting on my porch
While the boys and girls fill the streets with noise
Didn't care what was going on around
Just making sure that everything is going to be alright
There goes Ms. Jones again, yelling, 'Stay off my grass! '
And she doesn't know that when she goes inside
We're the ones that run all over, making it brown
Can't all you see that we're making today last?
Now the skies now darkened; it's time to go indoors
The boys and girls say they'll see us tomorrow
And as I'm beginning to curl under my covers
Here comes Tory at my window knocking, saying, 'this day isn't over...'
We're the kids on the break this summer
We're writing on the sidewalks with our colors and
We're the ones who knock and run on your front door
We're just making sure that this day stays younger.
