Survive Me - Poem by Brandon Lucero

Smells like bleach
and piss
I could be dead.

Arise my son
and go forth
not like me.

Soon they come
all the pretty temptations.
Survive me.

I fought and I lost
God is real
devil was easier.

For I am loveless
and failure your inheritance
unwanted and abused you will be.

The cycle ends with my ghost
bearing all the shame.
Apologies, I hope I tried.
