Tag You'Re It - Poem by charisse bounlangsy

'tag you're it'
on the first day of kindergarden
playing as tho we were forever friends
shy without shyness
crazy and immature without a care in the world
we become best of friends
one day i told you i like you
but you told me that you saw me not as a girl, but as a friend
you told me you loved me more than a friend, like a sister
and i told you that i was kidding
we laughed and joked about it
i dropped the subject like it never happened
today a girl comes up to me and tells me that we looked cute together
i smiled
i frowned
i teared
i cried
and said sorry i have to go
later that very girl became his love
i became the third wheel and we drifted apart
i left and put him behind me
years has passed and i see the girl at a coffee shop
we reminisce and laughed about the pass
all my feelings for you came rushing back
finally i asked her how you were doing
her head drops, she stares at the floor
he passed away
a month after you left.
there i was smiling
the smile turned into a frown
i teared
then cried
she then said
he went to get you
but got into an accident
when i reached him he told me to tell you something
his last words were
I'm sorry
I love you
'tag you're it'
