Take A Vivid Breath Poem by Sheri Green

Take A Vivid Breath

I was so tired and emotionally drained
Expecting defeat before the day had begun
I would try to break free of all the pain
I felt alone, like I was the only one

Lost in the confusion into which I was hurled
Never knowing which way was the right way to go
Always the imperfect girl in a perfect world
Hiding the hollow pain so no one would know

I was nothing more then a shadow without a name
Born to repeat the same things time and again
While everything changed yet remained the same
Such things can break you in this world of men

Yet last night I dreamed and in the dream I grew wings
And though the wings were too weak to fly
My heart grew light and began to sing
As it was my spirit that soared so very high

There's no need to roam monochrome in this colorful life
It is time to fly free, let my wings unfurl
And set myself apart from all the world's strife
Maybe I am just the perfect girl for an imperfect world
