Talk - Poem by Jill Slattery

Like we can in my head
Rationalize and dramatize
all that needs to be said.
You give me some ammo,
and I'll blow this room apart
with questions and details,
while you tear up my heart.
I'll wait and watch you
speak like you mean it all,
tell me you knew all along,
then watch me break and fall.
At end we'll be done and cold,
but know it all too well,
that what we meant was more,
it was too complex to tell.
Then with one glance we will have it,
like we did before.
When words had no meaning,
and talk was no chore.
