Teacher - Poem by Brandi Vail
As the days came and went,
So did supposed friends.
But you managed to stick around
As the years flew by.
You were always there.
I always had someone to talk to,
Someone to listen and help me when it really mattered.
You became a mentor, a teacher, if you will.
But I took you for granted, never returning the favor.
Further and further you slipped away.
Well now I’m pulling you back.
I can see that you need someone to talk to,
Someone to listen and help, now that it really matters.
It’s overdue but I’m returning the favor now.
It’s my turn to be the teacher.
