Tearful Slumber - Poem by Gordon Jerome

I climb above the valley heat
Into the forest cool and sweet
Beneath a sky so starry bright
To spend a quiet summers night
I seek a solace in this place
Here within gods loving grace
Memories of you fill my mind
Thoughts of love soft and kind
Though lost to me you now are
From my thoughts your never far
If from my eye a tear may seep
It's a dream of you as I fall asleep.
'closing thought'
How much loss can one heart hold
Before the emptiness turns it cold
