The Bath Water Is Running Poem by Maja Dezulovic

The Bath Water Is Running

The bath water is running
And soon it’ll be cold.
I can hear my mother coming
And it’s me she’s going to scold.

Bath water is expensive
Electricity and water board
The bills are quite extensive
But it’s my basic need so I say it’s all a fraud.

I love my time when I’m bathing
The thoughts and ideas fill up the room
With water steaming
I rid myself of all heartache and gloom.

Still I’m rhyming and being wasteful
Typing and trying to be lyrical
While children die of cholera
Now, that’s hypocritical
And bloody distasteful!
