The Battle - Poem by Jennifer Goff

I know you are still here, and I never want you to leave me.
But I know that no matter what, I need to let things be.
We are faced with all the questions and concerns that make us weak.
Although impossible, the end of pain is what we seek.
My faith is strong but yet so fickle.
Longing for one day, when its my turn to get the pickle.
Life is short and getting shorter by the day.
I just want to have more happiness along the way.
Even if there is no real existence.
I will keep you in my heart, mind, and at close distance.
You have changed me and helped me grow in so many ways.
I realize your pain and we all know you want to stay.
But the last thing we would want is for you to feel coerced.
So instead of thinking of it as your weakness think of it as a lifted curse.
For your happiness and escape will mend the sad.
And the freedom from your pain will us glade.
We are never going to be ready for you to depart.
But we are willing to let go of your body
and keep you close to our hearts.
We love you daddy!
