The Bottom Line - Poem by Shina Don OluYoung

It's not about foolishness, it's about wisdom.
Whether you're the one kicking butts,
Or the one getting really whipped,
Let the bottom line guide your lyrics,
And your gaze, locked, through the haze.
Never lose sight, of the bottom line.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It's not about weddings, it's about companionship.
So when you're done with the hocus-pocus,
Remember to watch and pray.
And before you take the plunge,
Trust, but verify; over, and again.
Never lose sight, of the bottom line.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It's not about war, it's about security.
So weigh your lofty conquests with caution,
Or you might entrap your children's children,
When you go above and beyond,
Just cos you've got an iron fist, today.
Never lose sight, of the bottom line.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It's not about holy masks, it's about kind hearts.
The veils, the caps, the modesty; hey, I love your show!
But the real deal glows inside your beating heart.
You cannot love God, while also a codedly selfish demon,
To his many creations from within and beyond.
Never lose sight, of the bottom line.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
It's not about books, it's about knowledge.
When you know so much, yet look so off,
You become a meaningless algebraic probability,
With no arithmetic or geometric variability.
How many lifetimes are there in your books?
Never lose sight, of the bottom line.

An insightful perspective on the bottom line - that is the cause and effect, the essence of one's actions, well articulated and nicely penned in heightened poetic diction with conviction. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Shina. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON. (Report) Reply

Thanks Chinedu. Once the 'Why' becomes clear, everything else becomes clearly defined.
