The Boy From Colombo - Poem by Dilantha Gunawardana

The birth of felicity in the midst of the twilight sky
As Ra leaves his dazzling imprint to a boy submerged in nostalgia
The heart a weaver of tapestries of memoirs
Capped with a subtle push from festive monsoonal rainbows
Entwining a mural of our gentle love, strand by strand
As our yesteryear erupts like a storm of fireworks
On a pitch black skyline, as she weaves the silk of nostalgia
Of our last stroll together on the pristine white sands of Eden
My beloved wrapped in a turquoise sundress
As we scanned the festivities of the twilight sky
Yet you flew effortlessly like a sprightly Tern, discontent of your birth rite
Yearning to find love in the midst of the draping snow
A land where your flawless ivory tone merges with the tapestry of winter
Oh how beautiful is the heart that knows her destined crossroad
To find tides of amour in empyrean fields, on soils of love
I will always cherish your wisdom and courage my love
To have found your home, thousand of miles away from home
Far from me, the boy who walked on your shadow
A soul who harbored dreams of eclipsing your shadow one memorable twilight
To blaze an inferno with our vestal desires...........
Now the boy walks free of your cast in the backstreets of Colombo
Hoping for a tryst with destiny, to re-kindle his precious flames of love
