The Boy With The Demon Eyes - Poem by Khembottra Oum
I believe in God
But I don't know if God believes in me.
How do you stop a broken man from drinking?
Words soaked in alcohol will never ease the pain.
I watched my father die twice...
When he was alive and when he died.
My mother taught me how to love
She also taught me how to hate...with that love.
The psychic held my hand and said,
'You're a good man with alot of demons.'
The monk carried me in his arms and told my parents,
'Your son will be a great man.'
The Sage looked me in the eyes and said,
'You will never reach enlightenment.'
I sat inside a church, opened a bible, and lit a cigarette,
Ripped the page John 8: 32 and burned it with that cigarette.
I found God in the stars
But I don't know if God has yet to find me.
