Modest Matt

The Darkening Rom - Poem by Modest Matt

In the corner of a darkening room
You're hiding away from all the gloom
Of the world thats speeding by outside
Not waiting for you as you try to hide

The hours and days go ticking along
You're scared to admit that theres anything wrong
Nothing but a computer screen for company
But you cant think of anywhere you'd rather be

(chorus)
There's a pain thats lurking behind your eyes
But you pretend that its ok and keep living those lies
This is the perfect existence that only you see
But cant you just realise that you are me?

The laughs and the jokes, they increase by the day
No sign of burning out or of fading away
You're sad and you're desperate and all on your own
Wondering if your presence on earth is known

You dont get invited to all the 'cool' things
You have a nice phone but no one ever rings
All you can do is just write this sad song
And hope someone out there is singing along
