The Evening News Poem by Olufayo Ezekiel

The Evening News

In our terrain;
The evening news is bitter, painful, Heartbreaking and tears bringing.

Each evening, we tune to hear;
The happenings in our land,
The rewards of our actions,
And the waves in our caves.

Sorrowful;
Like the heart of a barren woman.
Bitter;
Like a meat washed with gall.
Unwelcoming;
Like the weed to the farm,
And a thorn in the flesh.
And Disastrous;
Like an hurricane.

The casters always wriggle,
In bad moody mixtures; of depression, sorrow and agony.

Bringing to us;
Dirging deaths of blasts in the North,
Deafening cries of victims,
Bloods swimming for help,
And predators voices ringing with pride.

The News is heart flamming,
Announcing the decay of our home,
Theft on treasury,
Looting, raping and smuggling of wealth in 'llions.
And the daily tales of our Triba-land.

Very alarming widely wild wondrous news,
Lives lost on rough roads,
And that of big bellied men on air.

The evening news is deafening;
As listeners scale the night in murmuring, heartbreak and agonies.
