The First Date - Poem by Petra Creffield

The first date
What to wear
What will I say
What is too much
Too little
Feel so unsure
Insecure and afraid
Try and ground myself
Lie on the floor and breathe
Wanting to come back to earth
Ground myself
Floating around in the ether
Gives me vertigo
These expectations too big
Too wild
Too wild for any mere mortal to fulfill
So excited
So afraid
Shit.

It's all about the anticipation, expectation, and the zeal to have perfect date. They all add up to the thrills. A nice piece indeed. Thanks for sharing. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON. (Report) Reply

It's been awhile since I've felt this way..but of course, I do remember. Very well penned, Petra. Excellent write. (Report) Reply
