The Fog Poem by Emily Davis

The Fog

A cloud of fog envelops my brain
The rhythmic pattern of the clock echoes in my head
Tick-tock, tick-tock
Time marches on
But I remain still
Not ready to move with it
I stammer
Unable to process what has happened
Staring at my parents in disbelief
“Wh—What? ! No! ”
Distant memories flash before my eyes
As I realize I will never see him again
Days pass slowly
The fog thickens
Whisking me away to an alternate universe
An alternate reality
Where none of this ever happened
A world where he’s still here
Every so often
The fog is shattered
Snapping me back to reality
As the truth washes over me
The silver tears fall
Until I disappear once again
Into the fog
