The Gift Of The Gab (The Blarney Stone Song/Poem)

I was a lad of
very few words
I had little to say
When it came to the girls

I could never find the words
That I wanted to convey
And I'd bless the day
If I found some fine words to say

Then one time I got
Talking to Ted,
This man was never short for words
He had plenty to say

I asked,
Where did you learn
To speak so well?
He said "I kissed the Blarney
Stone when I was 10"

"The Blarney Stone is 4 feet long
And one foot wide
A limestone slab
Up 83 feet high"

"the story goes if you hang upside down
and kiss the slab
You'll be never short for words
As you will have the Gift Of The Gab"

I replied, what must I do,
and how must I flex?
He said
"Just lie backwards
And crane out your neck""

"You bend backwards just like a crab,
You give the stone a kiss for the gift of the gab,

You bend backwards just like a crab,
Then you'll have the gift of the gab

You bend backwards whether it's wind or rain
.You bend backwards you'll feel no pain

You bend backwards just like a crab,
Then you'll have the gift of the gab.

(Then You'll have the gift of the gab)

I replied that's sound advice
If I get some free time I'm gonna give it a try

And that day came on a wet day in July
I was going to turn upside down and face the sky.

I headed for the Blarney castle
To be the king of the throne
And hang upside down
to kiss The Blarney Stone

I reached the castle
And I climbed to the top
Never great with heights
And I nearly stopped

I was met by
the stone keeper
And he said "your up next"

I asked
"What must I do
and how do I flex? "
He said
"You lie backwards
And crane out your neck"

" You bend backwards just like a crab
you give the stone a kiss for the gift of the gab
You bend backwards just like a crab...

Then you'll have the gift of the gab

You bend backwards whether it's wind or rain
.Ya bend backwards you'll feel no pain

Ya bend backwards just like a crab
Then you'll have the gift of the gab.

(Then you'll you have the gift of the gab) "

He lowered me down
With one big grab
Before I knew it I was upside down
Face to face with the slab

I closed my eyes
And kissed The Blarney Stone
The magic hit my lips
Just as a gentle breeze was a blowin'

I could taste the
millions of people before me
on my lips
What a great feeling
Just kissing a brick

While upside down it all came out
I couldn't help but sing it all out loud
The words just poured and poured
from my mouth

I sang
I bent backwards just like a crab
I gave the stone a kiss for the gift of the gab

I bent backwards just like a crab
Now I have the gift of the gab

I bent backwards in the wind and rain
.I bent backwards and felt no pain
I bent backwards and kiss the slab
Now I have the gift of the gab.
And now I have the gift of the gab

And just like that
I was pulled back Up
The keeper said
You gave that Stone
a great auld Póg (kiss)

He said,
"I never heard someone
Sing while hanging upside down
There's a first time for everything I guess
Even when on your on your crown"

As I walked a way
The keeper shouted "who's up next? "
I was stopped by a girl who was down the line
She asked what was it like to kiss the stone of lime?

To tell you the truth I wasn't expecting that
But it sure is great having the gift of the gab

She asked "what must I do
and how do I flex? "
I said
Just lie backwards
And crane out your neck

I said,
"you bend backwards just like a crab
You give the stone a kiss for the gift of the gab

You bend backwards just like a crab
Then you'll have the gift of the gab

You bend backwards if it's wind or rain
.you bend backwards you'll fell no pain

You bend backwards just like a crab
Then you'll have the gift of the gab.
Just like me you'll have the gift of the gab

Hey hey...."
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na
Now I have the gift of the gab
X 3 to end
