The Heat Poem by april hoodak

The Heat

Oh I miss that heat
Although
i don’t miss it
not all of it
not the chill that follows
always follows
no?
foolish.
maybe foolish
maybe fortunate
But
If so
even so
those
likely to squander
misuse
cheapen
and even know?
no
but i know
or think
or hope
or not
Is it so much
to Desire
the heat
And
the spark
And
undying embers?
It is.
It is selfish
improper
irrelevant.
a useful excuse.
NO. stop.
thats not the right place
not a good place
not a constructive place.
just the heat
intense
eager
and hot
no thought of the after
no thought of the gray
only the heat
hot and fine.
Something.
A better excuse.
