The Knife - Poem by shane chastine

There once was a boy who just lived his life
He had the emotion of a razor sharp knife
Just a glance showed the pain he could bring
But sharpening a blade can also sting

Grinding away at his dull, boring feelings
The deep wounds and all those things
All the things he did, everyone ungrateful
Made him edgy, angry, and hateful

Nobody liked him which ground him down more
Dust from his life falling to the floor
He only caused bleeding, gashes, lacerations
Nothing happy were any of HIS creations

There once was a boy who just lived his life
He had the emotion of a razor sharp knife
Just a glance showed the pain he could bring
But sharpening a blade can also sting

Then came a girl who had the same life
She could put on the appearance of a knife
But instead of something that causes pain
She chose something all wished to obtain

She could have had much pain to bring
But she chose the shape of a silver ring
Causing other things, shiny and bright
She radiated a gentle white light

When the knife met her at first sight
He was finally taught he hadn't been right
Her beauty and value, luster and shine
He knew she was sent as a special sign

The ring taught the knife how bad it can be
And you still dont have to let your hate free
She melted his soul and mended his life
And found the small beauty within the sharp knife
