The Last Life Poem by Laura Pinnuck

The Last Life

I never realised until you were gone,
That I loved you since you were born
Now my days are lonely
Nights they pass so slowly
Oh, why’d you have to go?
When our relationship had only just began to flow
You were the only one for me
My last thought as I slowly sink to the bottom of the sea
I think if only you were there
How your hand would run through my hair
I will soon be joining you to have another chance
This time will you get up and dance?
I’m drifting slowly now as the years flash by
If I wasn’t surrounded by water you could hear me cry
My life it seemed was only a bet
But ending it will surely be my only regret.
