The Magic Of A Full Moon Night - Poem by Rajnish Manga

Have you seen the Full Moon tonight
When the sky was more than generous
It had started distributing goodies gratis
In the evening when the moon was rising
From behind the greenery of the park
It was bright and wet as shining liquid gold
I was drenched in the showers' fold
My heart and the soul rejoiced at the mold
I felt richer as my eyes glistened and doled.

At the stroke of 12 that ushered midnight
I came out of my study, saw skywards
And was mesmerized by the spectacle
Brought about by the time in the interim
Full moon was there right above my head
But the gold had now turned into silver
Coming down to earth through its beams
With its silvery hold on the dominion
The magic of a full moon night on display
Here, there and every where
In full measure.

I'd substitute " looked" for " saw" [skyward], but i don't know what English 'experts' would 'allow'. generally i enjoyed the peom.

" every where" and other two-part spellings of what i would spell as one word i have noticed in the writings of some other Indian poets & maybe some U.K. poets. in U.S. I use " everywhere" .

    have a nice night!

i guess i''m a tad late jumping on the 'band wagon' to offer a comment!

i can't make sense out of the use of " mold" and " doled" . of course liquid gold can be poured into a mold to form a figure of a particular shape, such as jewelry or a 'brick' of gold.

i like the alliteration " gratis goodies" ; i like free stuff, IF i'd like it if it weren't free.

I am a favourite observer of the full moon, dear Rajnish Sir! If possible each month I am looking at that biggest dot, such a true magic show on my spot. But when cloudy, I cannot see him. I love the beauty youdescribed here, so beautifully worded. Thank you so much for sharing this gem, Rajnish Sir. A 10 full vote. (Report)Reply
