The Nights Ate Long Poem by kelly berry

The Nights Ate Long

I stand here hoping that the night be short
It was twenty days to count that I found out.
That I be standing here on my own
Living breathing eating with the kids.
Knowing and hurting me cause of this

The blade of the night helps me to see
Help me to feel what I want to hide
Help me be whole again in the way I lost you
So one day these nights will not seem long
I learn to move on when I find my steps
Find the reason to life find what it is I set out for

I can tell a thousand lines on my pain
I heard my father yell and then the belt comes undone
I felt the wrath of the belt lashing on my skin
I seen the blood falling down my body
I cry a tear in your name and hear the sounds of the room

Then I think of what it is like here
This is the last note the last good bye
I gone go now look after the kids I write down this
Now you read my final words I gone jump now I be long gone

The rope of fear that take me out of this life around my neck
Tighten hurting barely cutting the dreams I set out.
………. What happen now what do you think?
