The One Who Saves Me - Poem by Benjamin Goudberg

Walk down that alley without a light
Never showing an ounce of fright
Keeping your head held high
Keep reaching towards the sky

Youve been down this path before
Didn't want this to hurt anymore
Yet things are they same as they was
Thats just the way of the world because

Put on the mask so as to hide my true self
Everyone caught up in their own wealth
Poor I would call you for you know not
The value and power of this thought

I can write what I feel and what I see
But you can never know what it is to be
Me who has to walk this line all the time
Keep telling myself ill turn out just fine

I can tell you tales that will leave you sad
How do I differ from the good and bad

This is the story I know and will tell
At times I just break down and yell
Hoping someone will hear me
But Im drowned out by the crash of the sea.

The riff raff fills my the thoughts of my head
Just didnt want to get out of my bed
So I put one foot in front of the other
Just one step at a time

So when I fall, I know I can get up and somehow keep walking
