The Path Ahead - Poem by Melissa Johnson

I'm standing at the water's edge,
In this dark and desolate place,
The moonlight causing frenzied shadows,
To dance across my face.

As I turn and look back,
At the path from which I came,
The trodden ground stares up at me,
And the view is all the same.

As I turn again and look onward,
At the path I haven't yet treaddd,
The sight is barren and unfamiliar land,
And I look forward to the journey ahead.
