The Rapture Poem by Andrew Herrera

The Rapture

Rating: 4.0

As you persecute me
I stand in front of a sea of fiends
and my skin breaks and burns
from a thousand strings that
tie me down to the edge of my
deleterious dream.
And my skin breaks
and my mind breaks
due to badgering by these
barbarian beasts.
They lift me though this sea of
scrutiny and savage sacrifice,
pulling my body into pieces of paper
to make model airplanes.
And as I fly through the caliginous night,
I fly alongside the wings of cranes.
They guide me into the place where
I will meet the being that will probably be
the most prominent in this life after my
grievous persecution.
And my heart beats like a deep bass
working through a convoluted cadence,
but as his light shines and fills my heart
with reassurance that my
suffering is all over,
I’m enveloped in peace.
