The Relationship Game Poem by Chad Shumate

The Relationship Game

In this game you don’t have to be on the defense, play some offense,
This way your teammate will be loose before you play and not tense.

Spend some time together and go over the game plan,
The opponent is lies, deceit not even a human.

Cheating is not an option, you have to practice hard,
By playing in your gym and not in someone else’s yard.

The clock has started and you feel prepared,
But you have butterflies and you are scared.

Trust in your teammate, because you drafted them first,
You may be losing now, but it could be a lot worse.

The score is 40 to Love, don’t hit the ball into the net,
Don’t argue, make your point, so you can win and not get upset.

No need to do this on your own,
You should know the play, this is not pee wee, you are both grown.

It’s not necessary to be the quarterback, you can be a receiver,
The ball is in your court, all you have to do is be a believer.

Stop listening to the fans and listen to your coach,
That’s the man upstairs, after the game who you have to approach.

Sometime you need some luck, so get your four leaf clover,
This is a game that you hope will never be over.

Of these situations people are notorious,
But if you just work together, you can be victorious!
