The Short Life Of Anna Vae Poem by Nicole Shoemaker

The Short Life Of Anna Vae

Anna Vae.

Was born today.

So full of life and sweet as can be.

Her siblings gather, she is number three.

Her mother smiles.

Her father too.

They listen close to her coo.

Time goes by.

Anna is one year.

At her party they do cheer.

Another year goes by.

Anna is young, but she is not shy.

In the back yard she hung out with her brother Drew.

Meanwhile a neighbor and a friend too.

Decided to have a few.

He then after got in his car

and decided to drive far.

He was drunk, he wasnt okay.

He pulled out real fast.

Turned into the next yard.

And hit poor Anna Vae.

The man didnt know what he did.

He didnt realize he hit a kid.

Anna Vae.

Died today.

Her mothers tears wont go away.

Her father doesnt know what to say.

The neighbor soon heard of the families sorrow.

While in the jail of Saint Barllow.

Anna's service was small.

And it could have been provented if the man didnt decide to drink and drive at all.
