The Sighing Bird - Poem by Karnail Singh Heirwale

Thy eyes were enough
To smite my whole being
What for thy hand played
A supplementary role
As doth the foil
To the heroine in a comedy
It did some mischief unseen
The sighing bird
Began to stir
The life elbowed out
It started singing
Like a lark
Somewhere in the sky
All ecstasy
All joy
All bliss
