The Spotted Lamb Poem by cheryl davis miller

The Spotted Lamb

Cold and shivering he came forth
into this world on that night.
His breath of life shone so clearly
in the moon's cascading light.
His Mother, gently loving him
Her darling a baby boy.
His spots did not disquiet her
nor steal that dear Mother's joy.

The Shepherd checking in on them
just before the break of dawn.
The spotted lamb was up nursing
shaky legs he stood upon.
The shepherd knew well the value
of his herd had just went down.
For spotted lambs go more cheaply
at the market sell in town.

Cold and shivering He came forth
into this world on that night.
His Breath of Life shone so clearly
in the moon's cascading light.
His Mother gently loving Him
Her darling sweet Baby Boy.
There He was laid The Spotless Lamb
Source of our Eternal Joy.

The shepherds came to worship Him
called by Angel's from above.
Laying in a lowly manger
they beheld the Father's Love.
The value of the spotted lambs
very costly now they knew.
The Spotless, came as a ransom
for the spotted, me and you...
