The Step - Poem by Emma Cook

I was yet one.
The step, I sat upon.
I watched you unaware.
I was sat there.
You did not turn.
Say a word
I was left confused.
Waiting, wondering why?

Time has gone.
Ten years.
Since I sat, upon that step.
The memory of your face faded, from memory.
Are you far away?
Sun, sea and sand.
The step left, worn.
