The Storm - Poem by Sarah Marie
It was a stormy night
Lighting filled the sky like the sun
The angels tears fell hard to the ground
And the roar of the devil filled the sky
I was home
Scared of the storm
Like a child scared of the monster under the bed
I couldn’t stay in this house any longer
I had to leave
I grabbed the car keys
And ran out the door flying out of the driveway
Burning rubber on the pavement
I drove until I saw dawn
But why was I so scared?
It was a storm
I have seen a lot of storms without being scared
But I realized
I was scared my life would turn into that storm
A giant black cloud
Pouring out all my hopes and dreams
Not letting me live the life I want.
I turned around
Knowing that one day I would have to face the storm.
