The Younger Generation Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Younger Generation

I traveled on Route 66
Not too long ago
Many interesting things
I saw, I want you to know

Wanna turn the clocks back?
Forget the modern day?
Get in your car now, folks
Forget about the freeway

Like the old service stations
From back in earlier times
Just like being in yesterday
Such great collectable finds

Plan to take a casual drive
No rush, please take your time
Put everything on hold, sir
You won’t really get behind

Then turn on the radio
Roll down that window too
Pick a nice sunny day
Let the wind blow on you

I hope you will take the time
To have a little relaxation
Take your grandkids too
Teach the younger generation!
