This I Believe Poem by Wendelin Weird

This I Believe

This poem is for school and I would greatly appreciate any comments or criticisms. Thank you.

I believe in Laughter
And how it brings relief
To the tormented with a slight smile
Resonating in ones soul
Lifting up the weary
Providing strength and the assurance
Laughter will come again

I believe in Self Expression
And how it moulds each person
Into an unique masterpiece
Bestowing confidence upon individuals
Allowing them to follow their own path
And create their own fate

I believe in Dreams
And how they inspire the mind
Giving wings to imagination so it may take flight
Alighting a world of wondrous possibilities
Placing unwavering belief
In the most unlikely of outcomes
Dreams are the plinth for potential

I believe everything happens for a reason
And even the most tragic of events
Can coax out the best in human nature
The beauty that blooms
In the midst of darkness
Out shines all

I believe in Love
And how it can be expressed
In a myriad of ways
Forming unbreakable bonds
Capable of surmounting any adversities
Shown in trust of friends
Or self sacrifice to save another
Love remains limitless

However, one look at the night sky
And my previous beliefs pale to what I now face
Head tilted
Eyes aglow
I drink deep from the inky black
As it transitions to pastels

During the transformation it reveals its strength
Finding the fatal chink in the armor of Despair
This is the weapon the sky possesses
With its soft muted glow of dazzling orange
The hours before dawn promise Hope

Forever Hope is safe in the skies
Working its way into my very essence
Always near. Never out of reach

Each day as the fiery ball descends beneath the horizon
Hope vows to come again
Its calming counterpart of the night arrives
Providing a moment for reflection
Assuring Hope will return

Each sunrise greets me with this enthralling sensation.
Banishing depression, illuminating my ambitions
Showing Hope never truly left
So that when the day once again comes to an end
I understand
All is not lost

Forever Hope will go on
Carrying me past times of doubt
Sparking laughter
From finding various creatures and shapes in fluffy clouds
That drift across its abyss
Creating a foundation for self expression
As it paints the horizon in delicate hues of pinks
Accented with liberal amounts of orange
Hope puts its faith in Dreams
With each twinkling star
Supplying the fuel it needs to shine on
Hope allows us to believe
Everything happens for a reason
And serenades Love with the creatures of the night
So it too may know, Hope is not lost
Hope provides the courage to move on
By seeing a brighter future

I find Hope in peaceful memories
Running barefoot on the abandoned sidewalks
That absorbed the day’s light
And caress my feet with their warmth
In Crickets that escort me through the hours of darkness
And in Seemingly endless waves that possess a tranquilizing effect
Depicting a scene of picturesque serenity
Reminding me
Day by day
To not take these moments for granted

I reach my hand out, every night
To the ever-changing face of Hope
Hands clasped, and a whisper
An everlasting whisper
Don’t let go.
