This Smiling Face - Poem by Bridget Bush

All my life I hide the pain
and bury it deep inside
only to put on a smiling face
my sadness crawling away to hide
because if I'm not the one to make you laugh
I'm afraid no one else will
so I put on this smiling face
hiding the sad still
one of these days I'll get past this
and put away the bad
it's why I have this smiling face
to try to make me glad
