Those Yesterdays Gone Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Those Yesterdays Gone

Remember believing me to be a joke?
And in my presence you'd whisper and talk,
About me...
With other folks.
Who too thought of me as a fool too!
And I am sure you remember it,
Just like I do.

And today...
I bet you wish those yesterdays gone.
Not to exist.
Since it has to have occurred to you,
To realize...
I had to have been laughing at you inside.
And I was but ironically with empathy.
