Thoughts - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Now that my life may soon come to its end
I pray that the maker forgives all I have sinned
Looking back through my life one memory stands clear
Its the memory of the moment I first held you near
I felt so unworthy and afraid you would see
The scared little child that was hiding in me
You with your beauty and intelligence to match
I thought to myself you would be hard to catch
So I set out to show you just how much I cared
And treasured each moment since that we've shared
If I were asked to pick the very peak of my life
Hands down it was the moment you became my wife
You see thats the moment my heart finally knew
My love now forever would be completely for you
And here near the end as I walk again all alone
I find comfort in my memories of your love I have known.
'closing thought'
Remember not the thorns of the rose but its looks, smell and feel
These are the precious thoughts that keep your memories real
