Tigers - Poem by Erik Larson

Tigers in the cage
looking out
trapped again why?
scary people

all the bad guys go to prison
the really
bad guys right?

this isn't funny anymore

the Tiger starts to pace
memories of freedom
flit behind his face
I remember
what you fought so hard to win
I remember
and you all take it for granted
act like
it's rightfully yours

stands on a pile of dead bodies

of people who believed

to life
and the pursuit of happiness

but you can't see the blood
that was shed

and no one can wake you up
from your apathy
But I know

what goes around

comes around.

One day you'll find out

how it feels

I promise you.

One day you will find out how it feels to be

locked in
shut down
drowned out

and forced to fit a mold.

What goes around

comes around
and you won't be smiling

you'll find out

And your whining mouth
will be shut
by threat of violence

and you'll be on the other end of the stick
like me.
what goes around
