To Be Or Not To Be - Poem by Tara Star

Because it’s 6.40
And it feels like 7.20
And I’m driving
Driving is easy
One hand on the stering
The other working out the calculator,
Sometimes I comb
Sometimes I kick ass too.

I know, I know
I’m a multi–tasker
My mind never settles for the least
If Mr. Trump were here,
I’m sure he would hire me right away.

Easy, easy
I’m cool
Munching bubble gum
It’s raining
And it’s dark
I sing along with the song
“Who’s gonna drive you home tonight? ”
I hate this song
I hate it because I wish it was written for me.

I’m a good driver
I obey traffic lights
I stay away from emergency lanes
But accidents
They don’t choose their victims
Earlier today
An SUV got too close
It ripped off the side mirror
Attached to my car
Then it drove off
Like a sick inconsiderate jerk
I hope he gets caught on fire
One day
In hell.

I like this,
I like feeling sad and depressed
The cars are moving awfully slow
I might not arrive home at all
That’s okay
Cause there’s nobody to greet me
With smiling faces
When I get there.
I wish there were
More colors and surprises in my life

But here comes the reality check:
Nahhh I’m black and white
Yes or no
No maybes
There’ll just be me
My blank walls
And those obsolete Britney posters
I don’t look at anymore.
I mean,
Come on
Who would wanna make Britney an idol?
I don’t.

You know I’d be alone
But still you don’t care
I wish you’d call
At this depressing hour
I wish you would rescue me
From this crowded mess
I need a purpose
And I want you to be it
But you,
You happily flip your wings
You don’t want to catch the diamond tears
I’m weeping
I think you’re gay.
