Together - Poem by Andrew Joseph Smith

There they sit, motionless
Visible by all
Yet consumed
With the beauty of each other

Daily the two radiate
Ones refracting facet
Revealing the others pulchritude
Ones falling shadow
Masking the others flaws
Symphony of light
Harmony of colour

Now darkness, one is gone
No longer revealed beauty
One still shines, never as bright
No longer hidden flaws
Cracks, like wounds laid bare
A vision of utter dismay

With reason He gives
With reason He takes away
