Tree Of Life

Composed on Monday morning and afternoon, March 12,2012,
And revised on Thursday morning, March 30,2017 at 8: 47 a.m.

-for my wife Kim Ryan

"The law of the wise is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death."
- Proverbs,13: 14

"Let's take a walk"
- Izzie speaking in Darren Aronofsky's film The Fountain

The tree of life lives in us,
in our blood, our breathing,
in all our feeling and bodily
processes, our not wanting
to let go—you of me, me
of you—and we would look
everywhere for this tree
from rural Honduras to Mexico
if only it would save us—
anytime, anywhere where
it exists as long as you
are with me on the journey.
Water shows the way—
this is certain.Take care.
Listen for, follow the water:
the sound willtake us there.
