Tried - Poem by Laura Dunne

tears fall silently down an ashen face
unseen but well known
forever falling from drunken eyes
she screams a silent scream
deadly and hopeful all the same
her friends can't help, no one can
untimely deaths throughout her life

she tried to save you
tried to hold on
you would have wanted her to
but she is only so strong

feelings fading away
into the blackness now seen
she'll never deal with them again
she thinks she sad but doesn't know
impossible to tell, no flowers blooming
can make her feel that way again

she tried to save you
tried to hold on
you would have wanted her to
but she is only so strong

will she ever make it?
will she ever see you again?
unanswered questions buring her mind
forever to haunt her dreams you are

she tried to save you
tried to hold on
you would have wanted her to
but she is only so strong
