Truth - Poem by James Tarver

There are those that say it is to be seen,
Others feel the beating of its pulse,
While still others stare into its eyes,

It is bold,
It fears no one,
It stands tall,
Its simplicity is its strength,

You cannot escape its justice,
Your names it will remember forevermore,
Your being it penetrates,

It speaks many languages,
It understands all meanings,
It passes no sentence yet you suffer its judgment,

At times it is harsh and demanding,
At other times it spreads a cloak of comfort,
All the while it has but one goal, one thought, one point, one end,

Many have attempted to deceive it,
Some to defy it,
All the while others deny it,

Children have seen it,
Fairy Tales have described it,
Leaders have professed it,
Nations have come to know it,

Storm troopers have been deceived by it,
Armies have been led by it,
Books have recorded it,
While all from the Book have lived by it,

It has but one moment,
The living face it daily,
The dead face it for eternity.
