Unconditional Love (Sarah's) - Poem by Kelly Kurt

Though I may pull some hair out
When I’m changing her shirt
She still loves me
When I send her to bed
And her feelings are hurt
She still loves me
When I had a bad day and I’m in a bad mood
When I tell her to stay ‘til she eats all her food
When I don’t hear what she said and to her I seem rude
She still loves me
She unconditionally loves me

When I need to scold her
Give a harsh reprimand
She still loves me
Though I’m sure when I yell
She can’t quite understand
She still loves me
When I’m busy or tired and don’t give her much time
When my face looks like I just sucked on a lime
When I don’t let her know I’m glad that she’s mine
She still loves me
She unconditionally loves me

You know Kelly, I don't have a daughter.. But I have a few cute little cousins and I always love the cuddles, bedtime stories, kisses, hugs, and a lot of 'fights' and 'I am not talking to you anymore'! ! I can really feel this poem.. This is really sweet.. Thank you very, very much for sharing this with us.. Made me smile :) (Report) Reply

Sarah will be 29 in less than 2 weeks. Daughters are such a blessing! It is hard to fathom that in some cultures they are not wanted

Heart and soul shines through here and it speaks the whole truth, we do what we have to do to be the parents we need to be no matter what when all is said and done our children know we love them and they love us unconditionally. This poem is a Blessing and I'm happy I found it...10 (Report) Reply

Written almost 3 decades ago about my oldest. It was one of the first poems I posted here. She was my first experience with that sort of unconditional love.: -) Thanks, Melvina

The love of a daughter for a good father is something very hard to convey. You, however have painted with words a simply marvelous and exact picture of what this love is like.
    . A poem to love.
