Upon The Brink - Poem by Julie Dant
Teetering here
Upon the brink
Of lofty self-delusion
Life trudges on
Days crawl by
Introduction to confusion
Visions of what might be
Thoughts of what is now
One-is named Illusion
Ticking T.N.T.
Smoldering want-of what?
Urgently needing defusion
Perhaps in life
In distant past
Began, then, the allusion
Of future choices
Shrouding clear thought
Surely marking retribution
Teetering here
Upon the brink
Of fantasy’s sensual convolutions
Teetering here
Upon the brink
Of monstrous mental revolutions
The choice:
To leap into which abyss
To illicit emotional fusion
