Utterings - Poem by Andy Brookes

do walls hold secrets?
or old walls echo past lives
soaked by centuries,
silent keepers of the flame.

a time capsule
each layer locked in
emulsion a sealant.

no, walls have ears
and voices, yes,
whispers.

speak walls,
speak to me.
show me ghosts,
Orphic prophecies
perspectives in oracular space
warnings from history.

daguerreotypes
inside out.
controverted.

but

you hold your secrets well
and keep silent.
