Tom Clark,

Waiting For Rain - Poem by Tom Clark,

A drop...
a single dropp came
and everything was still
everything waiting

I stood up and looked around
slowly breathed in
and thought about her

How she had left me
and what a fool I had been
how the crash happened
time and time it goes
around in my head

I see the blood in her hair
her smile, pasted on marble
I remember her breathe
and how it was... so cold

I remember the sirens
the ride in the ambulance
and the mad machines clicking wildly
marking death with a greedy speed

I remember the hallway
How that hallway seemed to strech forever
And the people
How they all stared
and murmered under
their breathe
with drawn mouths
how they just stood there

Another dropp goes by
and joins the puddle at my feet
I look around
and everything is still
everything still waiting
