Waking - Poem by Vincent Price

My eyes open, another day
The same as the last but still new
Start over, start new, start fresh
I will not make the same mistakes as yesterday

Longing for friendship, for love, for truth.
Elusive, they evade my searching.
Maybe I'll find them tomorrow, today
Smoke another bowl, light another cigarette.

My eyes open, another day
The same as the last but still new.
Today my open eyes see my closed ones;
I never woke up, the nightmare continues.
