Waltzing With A Butterfly Poem by Eunice B. Lanzl

Waltzing With A Butterfly

The gold chain makes a figure 8
configuration on the marble topped table.
The white butterfly circles around a white flower.
The violins play strauss waltzes with the orchestra.
I wished I were a single note played by the long haired violinist!
The music stops!
The violinist's shiny, black legs are bent
And the music doesn't play on --
The white flower wilts with the heat.
The white butterfly flies away --
To die alone, except for a lazy caterpillar
the sunlight on the summer porch brings me back to reality.
The grass outside is green and the air is sweet.
